The History of Aurora House
Let us introduce you to your hosts at Aurora House in the Byron Bay hinterland. But first, some history!
Originally built in 1881 and first named Tyrone, Aurora House has been a cherished part of the Byron Bay hinterland for more than 140 years. Just imagine the stories its walls could tell—family gatherings, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and everyday life unfolding beneath the sweeping fig trees and open skies.
A New Chapter with Suzy and James
In 2021, Suzy and James discovered Tyrone and instantly recognised its potential. They saw a historic home filled with heart and character, ready to be lovingly restored and shared. From the moment they stepped onto the property, they felt an undeniable connection—drawn in by the charm, history, and breathtaking views.
Suzy and James rolled up their sleeves and got to work. With care and respect for the home’s heritage, they undertook a thoughtful restoration. They revived the homestead’s original beauty while adding modern comforts and personal touches that make it truly special. And with its fresh chapter came a new name: Aurora House.
Their bond with the home deepened even further when they chose it as the place to exchange their own wedding vows. In 2021, they were married on the very front steps of Aurora House, surrounded by the love of their family and friends. That heartfelt moment sealed their dream—to open the home to others who, like them, would find peace, inspiration, and connection here.
