About Your Hosts

About your hosts at Aurora House:

Aurora House was originally built in 1881 and first named Tyrone.  You can imagine all the stories and memories that have been created here over more than 140 years!  Over the decades, this grand old homestead has stood as a silent witness to family gatherings, birthdays, anniversaries, special events, and just everyday life in the Byron Bay hinterland.

In 2021, along came Suzy and James, her new owners. They saw the potential to breathe new life into this historic gem while preserving its timeless charm.

From the moment they first set eyes on the property, Suzy and James were captivated by its character, beauty, and sense of history. They envisioned a place where people could gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories. With dedication, care, and a deep appreciation for the home’s heritage, they undertook an extensive restoration, bringing Aurora House back to its former glory while adding their own thoughtful touches to make it truly special.

Their personal connection to the home runs even deeper—Suzy and James were married on the very front steps of Aurora House in 2021, surrounded by the love of family and friends. This profound experience solidified their desire to share the magic of this place with others. Now, they feel incredibly privileged to open the doors of Aurora House to guests who, like them, appreciate the beauty, tranquility, and history that make this home so unique.

Whether you are here for a romantic getaway, a heartfelt celebration, or simply a moment of peace and relaxation, Suzy and James hope you will feel the same warmth and connection that they do. As you unwind beneath the ancient fig trees and take in the dreamlike vistas, may you create treasured memories that will last a lifetime.

A little bit of magic in paradise.
